Ambulatory care (outpatient care) is medical care provided outside of a medical environment, such as observation, consultation, treatment, intervention, and rehabilitation services. Comprehensive ambulatory care can reduce or even prevent the need for hospital admissions (inpatient care), such as diabetes or chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.
